Kazuo Ishiguro wins 2017 Nobel Prize for Literature

Stockholm, Oct 5: Celebrated English author Kazuo Ishiguro has been nominated for the Nobel Literature Prize 2017. Hailing the contribution of Ishiguro, Swedish Academy said, “Ishiguro has written “novels of great emotional force” and “uncovered the abyss beneath our illusory sense of connection with the world”.
The Man Booker award-winning novelist has penned eight books which have been translated into 40 languages. Besides novels, the ace writer has crafted several screen play along with short stories. The story for the 2010 flick helmed by Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley, and Andrew Garfield was adopted from his Let Me Go.
His latest novel, The Buried Giant was published in 2015 which was based on the concept of how “memory relates to oblivion, history to the present and fantasy to reality”.
The 62-year-old eminent novelist was born in Nagasaki, Japan, in 1954. Later he moved to the United Kingdom when he was five years old. As reported by BBC, the legendary writer used to work as a grouse beater for the Queen Mother at Balmoral. The author completed his MA in creative writing at the University of East Anglia.
