Under Pradhana Mantri Mudra Yojana, around 9 Cr 13 Lakh people have been benefitted: Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi

Hyderabad, October 5: Over 9 Crore Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency MUDRA loans have been disbursed ever since its launch, said Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi while inaugurating the MUDRA Promotion Camp in Hyderabad. 

While addressing the launch, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi highlighted the significance of the MUDRA loans in the life of ‘poor’, said that MUDRA Yojana and programmes like Jan Dhan Yojana have become major instruments for the upliftment of the poor. These schemes are contributing to the economic transformation of the country into a major economy.

Under this MUDRA Yojna which was launched on 8th April 2015, the Centre has approved about 9.13 Crore loans. Addressing the common people, traders, industries representatives and people from the social sector in Hyderabad, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that there are about 76% women in these beneficiaries of MUDRA Yojna and more than 55% of the beneficiaries are from SC, ST, OBC and Minorities. He further said the country now has become one of the safest and strongest destinations for investment. 
 

The day-long camp is featuring awareness on various categories of loans that can be availed under Pradhana Mantri MUDRA Yojana and Start-Up India scheme under which loans up to one Crore rupees can be obtained. Awareness among merchants onboarding for various digital payments, coverage of merchants with Bharat QR coding and downloading BHIM app besides seeding Aadhar with bank accounts also are being done at the camp. Besides providing 9 financial services on the spot, the Camp is also creating awareness about agriculture loans among the visitors.

The objective MUDRA scheme is to fund and promote microfinance institutions, which would, in turn, provide loans to micro and small businesses. It is expected that 5.77 crore Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the country will benefit from this scheme, which in turn will bring a sea change to the economy and the business ecosystem in the country.
