FIFA launched Hindi Twitter account for U-17 Word Cup

New Delhi, October 6: In a good news for all soccer enthusiasts, FIFA has launched a new Hindi Twitter account for the U-17 WC. This is the first-ever FIFA event which is being hosted by India and this will help keep Indian fans abreast regarding the progress of the 52-match tournament.

FIFA has launched a new Twitter account @FIFAHindi - the first global sports federation to do so - to cater for football fans in the most widely spoken language in the host country: Hindi.

 

“The account will keep fans updated on the progress of the 52-match tournament, taking them on a journey across all six venues, as 24 teams compete for one trophy. We will also inform fans about important information related to their fan journey, and will retweet the very best fan tweets, as #FootballTakesOver in India,” FIFA said on Thurday.

“Football has a special place on Twitter with a strong community and constantly growing conversations,” said Aneesh Madani, Head of Sports Partnerships, Asia Pacific, Twitter.

“With the launch of this new Hindi Twitter account, FIFA is transcending the barriers of language and enabling even more access, as the first-ever FIFA event in the country kicks off.”

The biggest football extravaganza for India, FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 kicks off today with four opening day matches to be played in Delhi and Mumbai. Two Matches between Colombia and Ghana at 5 p.m.and the Hosts India and the USA at 8 p.m. will be played at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

Dr. DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai will be the venue for matches between New Zealand and Turkey and Paraguay and Mali.
