Tokyo, October 9: Going on the same line with earlier predictions U.N. Chief Antonio Guterres is planning to visit Japan by year-end. Local media reported earlier that Japanese Government was arranging to have a meeting with him. Various issues including North Korea will be discussed during his visit.

"Japan is a very important partner of the U.N. I am looking forward to that visit and talking about everything," Guterres said to local media Kyodo News. North Korea issue’s solution should be political, UN insisted several times. Hence it is expected that Guterres will emphasize the need for a political solution.

During December Japanese government will host an international meeting on health and medical issues. The trip is expected to take place then. This is going to be UN chief’s first trip since UN chief assumed his post.

In last month Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met UN Chief Guterres at the U.N. headquarters in New York. There also Abe expressed hope that UN chief would visit Japan soon. U.N. reforms and Sustainable Development Goals will also be discussed.
