Russia, Iran, Turkey join hands to increase humanitarian aid for Syria

Astana, November 1: It was already expected that the talks on Syria in Astana would be focusing on agendas like de-escalation zones and humanitarian issues. The participant countries in the talk Iran, Russia, Turkey emphasized on the necessity to further increase humanitarian aid to Syria, on which Russia has been talking since a long time. The talk also highlighted the significant reduction of violence in Syria.

The seventh round of negotiations on Syria started in Astana on Monday and concluded on next day where Iran, Turkey, Russia participated. The nations were as guarantors of the observance of the ceasefire regime in the Syria. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, US Acting Assistant Secretary of State David Satterfield and the Jordanian delegation also took part in the meeting as observers.

The longtime civil war has devastated Syria badly. Though many provinces of IS strongholds are now taken back by Syrian government terrorism still haunts the country. The joint press statement from Russia, Iran, Turkey reads that the talk underlines “the necessity to further increase the international humanitarian aid to Syria, to provide rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian access to all those in need.”

Earlier in this year, the countries launched de-escalation zones in four provinces of Syria. The talk emphasized how these de-escalation zones helped to progress in the fight against terrorism and elimination of DAESH/ISIL, Nusra Front and all other individuals, groups. Recently Russian Defense Ministry claimed that IS only occupies now less 5% of Syrian territory.

"We hope that all agreements that have been reached will be fully implemented. Every item of the agenda, including hostages, detainees, missing individuals, humanitarian demining and other issues, which were discussed during the seventh round of the talks in Astana is very important for all parties," Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov said.
