Khunti Encounter: Security Forces killed four PLFI Naxalites; Soldiers rewarded

Ranchi, November 1: The encounter took place between the PLFI's Maina Squad and the Khunti Police on the Kaaro river bridge in Karra police station area around 9.30 pm on Tuesday night. In this clash, the area commander of PLFI and the militant Maina Gope on whom the reward of Rs.two lakh was kept were killed besides three militants. The three have not been identified.

 

According to the local media, SP Ashwani Kumar Sinha said that 90 percent is certain that Maina was killed. Confirmation will be done on Wednesday. Apart from the insurgents, the police have recovered a .315 rifle, a double barrel rifle and nine mm pistol, a lot of cartridges. The militants' bike, scooter, and mobile have also been seized by the police.

There are several cases registered in different police stations against Maina. Regarding the Maina squad, the special branch also provided information of PEG police. Regarding the incident, it is said that seven motorists from the three motorcycles were crossing the Kaaro River Bridge. In the meantime, the police tried to stop three motorcycles. The militants started firing on the police. In response, the police also fired, in which four militants were killed. While three militants managed to escape.

Jharkhand's Director General of Police, reached the spot on Wednesday, where police had killed four Militants, including Area Commander Maina of PLFI in the encounter. Director General of Police DK Pandey encouraged the soldiers who took the blood from the Naxals, including the police captain of the district. For the soldiers involved in the encounter, a check of rupees four lakhs is given as a reward.

The activities of the Peoples' Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) which was formed in 2007 by Dinesh Gope and operated in areas around Ranchi. After the killing of his elder brother, Suresh Gope, in December 2003, Dinesh took charge and extended its area of operation.
