Arunachal is India’s part, any Indian can visit there; MEA rejects China's objection over Sitharaman's visit

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in his weekly media briefing, Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India and any Indian national can visit the state.

Earlier, China objected to Defence Minister's visit to Arunachal Pradesh, saying that her tour to the disputed area is not good. “There is a dispute on the eastern section of the China-India boundary. So this visit by the Indian side to the disputed area is not conducive to the peace and tranquility of the relevant region,” it said.

On Sunday, Sitharaman paid a visit to Army posts in remote Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh bordering China which considers the northeastern Indian state as its own and calls it South Tibet.

Asked about Indo-Pak talks, Kumar said, there is no change in New Delhi's stand. He said there should be a conducive environment free of terrorism for the talks to take place.

On Zakir Naik's extradition from Malaysia, the spokesperson said inter-departmental consultations are on in this regard and will be concluded soon.
