India will extend all possible assistance to Sri Lanka says PM Modi

New Delhi, November 10: Sri Lanka is facing fuel shortage nowadays. For this issue Sri Lanka requested India for the help. In response PM Narendra Modi assured Sri Lanka for all possible help to Sri Lanka. India will send additional fuel supply to Sri Lanka.

PM Modi and President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena had a telephone conversation on Wednesday evening. A 21,000 kilolitre-shipment left for Sri Lanka to curtail the emergency fuel shortage. Along with this Lanka Indian Oil Corporation (LIOC) IndianOil’s subsidiary in Sri Lanka, has made available 3500 KL of petroleum to the state-owned Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), with which it controls retail distribution of fuel in Sri Lanka.

Additional petrol is made available at Kochi refinery and also if there is a further need then more ships will be made available to the neighboring country confirms PM Modi.

Arjuna Ranatunga , Sri Lankan Minister of Petroleum Resources Development stated that fuel shortage occurred in Sri Lanka when a shipment of fuel imported by Lanka IOC, proved to be of substandard quality and was therefore was not unloaded.

 

Meanwhile, a 40,000-metric tonne shipment of petrol, for CPC’s supply, is expected to reach Colombo late Wednesday.
