Maha Governor meets Belgium Royal Couple; Discusses on strengthening mutual ties especially in health sector

Mumbai, November 10: Belgium King and Queen are on the India tour, on Thursday Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao met Belgium Royal Couple and discussed the healthcare issues. Belgium's King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and Governor C Vidyasagar Rao accompanied with his wife Vinoda, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited Raj Bhawan.

Queen Mathilde of Belgium interacted with differently-abled children during an educational event organised by UNICEF at Sahyadri Guest House. Belgium has succeeded in Science of developing technology of producing organic medicines. Health Minister Dr. Deepak Sawant has urged that Belgium should co-operate with Maharashtra to find out solutions to deal with malnutrition in tribal areas and women’s health issues.

 

The Health Minister was speaking at the closing of seminar on ‘Life Science and Health Care ‘ at hotel Triadant in presence of Belgium King Philip and Queen Mathilde . Volana Government Minister President Willi Borasus was also present there.

Praising Scientist Peter Payota for his research work done on Ebola virus in Belgium, the Minister said that Belgium and India have friendly relations for many decades. Both countries are partners in economic and medical sectors.

Research work done in Belgium if utilized in Maharastra, will be helpful in resolving women pregnancy, malnutrition in tribal areas, contraception, menopause and other health problems. Minister President Willi Borasus said the all the research work in medicine field should be utilised for public.

The visit aims at deepening the overall political and economic engagement between the two countries. In all about 38 Agreements covering smart cities, academic and business cooperation will be signed during the visit.
