Hyderabad, November 10: What can be the best example of ‘Best from Waste?’ Hyderabad has creative and quirky chairs made up of wastes for residents. Glass cubes filled with tetra packs and empty soft drink cans may soon serve as street furniture for the residents of Hyderabad if a pilot project gets the green signal.

These 'Waste Cubes' recycled from scrap, will be showcased at the upcoming Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), which will be held in Hyderabad from November 28 to November 30. The pilot project, undertaken by Bamboo House India, seeks to showcase how the recycling of scrap can be put to functional use in public spaces, besides being just street art.

The company used metal anglers and 8 mm toughened glass, to ensure that the cubes don't get broken or damaged. The cubes were filled with tetra pack waste, empty chips packets and soft drink and beer cans, besides pet bottles and other dry waste.

The company said that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's (GHMC) Sanitation Department helped the team with collecting and segregating dry waste that was required to make the furniture. "Hope the cubes send a signal to the citizens of the city about the urgent need to reuse and recycle," he added. The company had recently also made other furniture with the recycled waste, including a set of chairs.
