Solution to stone pelting in Kashmir can't be achieved overnight; incidents decreased: Army Chief

Varanasi, November 11: The solution to stone pelting in Kashmir can't be achieved overnight, however, the incidents have come down to some extent. This was said by Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Friday during a two-day visit to Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi along with his family members to attend the bicentenary celebration of 9 Gorkha Rifles at 39 Gorkha Training Centre.

 

General Bipin Rawat said, The Army, Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Jammu and Kashmir Police are working together in Jammu and Kashmir to maintain peace and security in the valley. “Solution to this can't be achieved overnight,” he added.

The Army Chief also said that the government, intelligence agencies and state administration all are making efforts to eradicate stone pelting incidents. “Will be successful if things go in this direction, can say this with belief," Gen Rawat added.

When asked about the shortage of arms, General Bipin Rawat said that there is no shortage of any arms and ammunition and Indian army is ready for any operations. He said, "The Army has no shortage of arms. But we have to keep modernizing weapons, arms as the technology is upgrading, and we are trying to bring in new and modernized technique ones in our Army."

Earlier, in the day, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat visited Varanasi with his family to offer his prayers at Kashi Vishwanath Temple where he prayed for the safety and security of our jawans on borders. The Army chief visited the city to attend the function of Gorkha Rifle regiments on its completion of 200 years.
