Here are preventive norms to curb air pollution in Delhi

New Delhi, November 10: Citizens of Delhi are facing a severe air pollution as the pollution level in Delhi is ballooning day by day. This has become an issue on the national level. So here are some additional preventive measures to save oneself from the hazardous condition of air pollution. To curb this pollution directions have been issued to Project Directors, Contractors and field level officials working on highways projects.

 

The ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued some preventive norms to curtail air pollution arising out of the construction work. Steps to be taken in this regard include sprinkling water at all construction sites and camp, covering of dumpers transporting construction material / waste including flyash, in the region, covering of exposed soil at the construction sites and adherence to air quality norms by all plants and machinery.

Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & highways said “field officials have been directed to strictly inspect the construction sites regularly to ensure that all the pollution control measures are followed.”

 Gadkari also said that thorough research needs to be done to find the cause of this pollution. He said this year the smog has descended despite the ban on crackers and restrain on burning of crops. The minister further said that the Road Transport & highways Ministry will offer all possible help for such research.
