New Delhi, November 11: Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu has advised the young Graduates and Academicians to respect Mother, Mother Land, Mother Language and Guru for progress in life.
Evoking history of Odisha, the Vice President said it was in this historic land of Utkala that one of India’s greatest emperors Ashoka “transformed” from being a ferocious king to a pious, development oriented monarch.
“Education is that which liberates according to our ancient visionaries. It should liberate us from narrow, tunnel vision. It should liberate us from prejudices, hatred, intolerance,” he said.
Calling the students as “inheritors” of a great Indian culture of of valued learning and knowledge, the Vice President said “Accessing, adopting, adapting and assimilation of new ideas has been India’s strength”.
India never attacked any country but it faced attacks from several small countries in the past. But none could change its culture that emphasized inclusion, truth, righteousness and welfare of all, the he added in his address to the students.
