Manila, November 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is always keen to meet and interact with Indians residing outside the country. However, continuing the same PM Modi on Monday met the Indian community in Manila and interacted with them on the sidelines of ASEAN summit. He said that the efforts of the present government are aimed at transforming India and ensuring everything in our nation matches global standards.

 

PM Modi while addressing the community about several initiatives being undertaken to transform lives of the common citizens said, “Our efforts are aimed at transforming India and ensuring everything in our nation matches global standards.”

 
The Prime Minister further remarked, “India is the land of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and has always contributed to world peace. Our contingent in the UN Peacekeeping Forces is among the biggest.” Adding furthermore, PM Modi also noted that India is the land of Mahatma Gandhi, peace is integral to our culture.


Earlier, in the day, PM Modi spoke about the economy of India at the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asia Nations) business and investment summit in Manila, Philippines. In his address, PM Modi said South Asia and Southeast Asia will be the development engine of the world. PM Modi also met US President Donald Trump held bilateral talks on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in Manila.


PM Modi also visited the Mahaveer Philippine Foundation in Manila and met the scientists working in International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) which has developed a better quality of rice seed and helped the global community in addressing food scarcity issues.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Manila on Sunday to take part in ASEAN Business and Investment Summit. On the sidelines of ASEAN he met and interacted with various world leaders including US President Donald Trump, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, and Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. A gala dinner was hosted by Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte ahead of the summit.
