Chandrababu Naidu orders probe in Vijayawada tragedy

Amaravathi, Nov 13: Taking a serious cognizance of the tragic river accident that took place at Pavitrasangamam in river Krishna, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has constituted a probe panel to investigate the horrifying mishap where 20 people have lost their life.

In an official statement, addressing the assembly members, Naidu said that 20 citizens have died and two others are still missing in the boat capsized near Vijayawada. The Chief Minister further added that 20 bodies had been recovered whereas state agencies are taking all the steps to recover the two missing bodies. The state government announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to the families of the deceased.

 

Earlier, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu along with Tourism Minister Akhila Priya took the stock of the ground zero and inspected the rescue operations. The Tourism Minister has asked officials to take stern action against the culprits.
