London, November 13: To stay effective in tackling the terrorism, Police forces will require a real-terms growth in resources said the Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley. He further added that the vital services like prevention and investigation of terrorist acts were provided by the local police forces.

Addressing officers at the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC) and National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) partnership summit in London he said that the reflection of the upshift in terrorist threat is seen in the tempo of the police work and also in the headline figures.

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said local police forces were providing vital services in the prevention and investigation of terrorist acts, but would need increased investment in order to be able to keep abreast of the growing demands on their time.

Talking about the terror attacks in London and Manchester, he said that, in the past eight months, UK has experienced five successful and seven thwarted terrorist plots as compared with 13 foiled attacks in the three years previously.
