Amravati, November 14: Today many colorful balloons took off in the skies of Araku Valley in Andhra Pradesh. For the first time ever, International Balloon Festival got kicked off in Andhra Pradesh. This edition of festival is being organised under the patronage of the Honourable Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the guidance of the  Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya.

Araku Valley in Andhra Pradesh saw its first-ever international balloon festival. Supported by Andhra Pradesh Tourism, this three-day extravaganza from 14-16 November has a line-up of 16 balloons from 13 countries including Australia, USA, South Korea, Brazil and India.

Located at an altitude of 1300m above sea level, Araku Valley—a three-hour drive from Vizag—is a popular hill station and one of the most scenic spots in the state. The drive to the valley is just as enticing as the actual destination as you pass tunnels, orchards and water falls on the way to the campsite.

While you’re there, hop on one of the hot-air balloons for an early morning flight—to catch the morning light spread over the stunning valleys of Araku. Soak in the gorgeous aerial views, but don’t stress if you can’t make it that early. There’s a lot more on offer. To keep the young ones entertained, special shaped balloons such as Iwi the kiwi, Neptuno and the Bee will make an appearance. Watch para-motoring shows by pilots from across the globe or do a couple of excursions around the campsite. You can also visit coffee plantations or check out the tribal village up-close. As the sun goes down, you can participate in tethered flights before heading back to the camp. End your day with Night Glow, a light and colour show with inflated balloons.

Here are the key highlights of the festival:
