Shimla, November 15: Finally, the Himachal government has got up from a deep sleep and put the health department on high alert after a massive surge in dengue cases. At least 400 people in Himachal Pradesh are found positive for dengue and of these 265 cases were found positive in Solan district alone.

Notably, Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur on Tuesday called an emergency meeting of all the departments concerned and reviewed the situation in the State capital. After reviewing the situation which is going worst, Minister Kaul Singh Thakur has put the health department on high alert after seeing a massive surge in dengue cases.

Minister Kaul Singh Thakur said around 400 samples were found positive for dengue and of these 265 cases were found positive in Solan district alone. He further said that blood samples of more than 2,600 people from various parts of the State have been taken.

Minister Kaul Singh Thakur also noted that the state government is doing free tests for patients and even supplying free medicine to everyone who is reporting in the State-run hospitals. “The government is supplying free fogging machines to the urban local bodies for fumigation and cleaning. Industrial wastes and the stranded water in certain places led to the spread of dengue in some areas,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Health Department released an advisory and said that the migrant workers of the peripheral industrial areas are the main sufferers of dengue fever. “But no deaths have been reported so far from anywhere,” the advisory added. Importantly, the majority of dengue cases are being reported from the nearby district of Solan and the industrial belts of Baddi, Nalagarh and Parwanoo.
