Chandigarh, November 15: The growing issue of pollution is haunting Delhi NCR since last few days. After few feuds among states, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar invited Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to seat together and discuss. Within 2 days, the two Chief Ministers had a fruitful meeting on Wednesday.

When Delhi Chief Minister reached Chandigarh airport he had to face protests by activists of the Shiromani Akali Dal and Congress. Oppositions in Haryana criticized CM Khattar for meeting with Kejriwal as he was blaming farmers of Haryana and Punjab for pollution. But despite all criticism, two leaders had a “fruitful” meeting.

Delhi Environment Minister Imran Hussain and Environment Department Secretary Keshav Chandra accompanied Kejriwal on his visit to Chandigarh. “We had a very positive discussion, we will take all steps possible to tackle the situation,” said Kejriwal after the meeting.

“We don’t have control of the air. We have to work together to improve the situation. This is just the start and we will work together in a clean environment,” Delhi CM said. On the other hand, Haryana CM said, “Pollution is a common concern. We are taking steps in our states. In Gurugram 500 buses will run on CNG.”

The two ministers covered crop residue burning and vehicular pollution issues. They agreed to joint actions in coming days. They also agreed upon the need for action on many measures aimed at preventing reoccurrence in next winter.
