Dutch envoy calls on CM Yogi Adityanath along with 15 industries delegates

Lucknow, November 15: The Dutch ambassador to India, Alphonsus Stoelinga led a delegation that called on the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday. The delegation had representatives from industries like environment, dairy, agriculture, agro-processing, industrial development, animal husbandry, bio-fuel and grazing etc.

The envoy expressed the desire of companies from Netherlands to invest in the state and also informed that a consulate of his country had been opened in Lucknow, which is also its first by his country anywhere in India. The visiting dignitary also expressed hope that the consulate would help closer bonding between industries of both UP and Netherlands and that trade would also increase between the two.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister informed the delegation about the various initiatives rolled out by his government to encourage industrial investment in the state. He added that due to the new industrial policy, a conducive environment for investment had been ushered in UP and pointed out that sectors like infrastructure, agro-processing, tourism, dairy, electronics, agriculture and food processing, additional energy sources, civil aviation offering immense scope and opportunities of working together.

Yogi also extended an invitation to Netherlands to be the 'Partner State' in the proposed 'Global Investors Meet'. On the occasion, Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner Anoop Chandra Pandey apprised the delegation of various works being done to initiate and encourage investment in the state.

In terms of trade and investment, India has strong economic interests in the Netherlands, which, in the financial year 2015-16, was the fourth largest investor of FDI into India and the 30th largest trading partner globally and 6th largest trading partner in the EU after Germany, U.K., Belgium, France and Italy.

Trade and investment cooperation is a key component of India-Netherlands relationship and has shown satisfactory growth. Two-way trade has between India and the Netherlands stood at US$ 4.81billion in 2016 with a balance of trade in favour of India of US $ 1.17 billion.
