15 people killed in Greece Flash floods

Athens, November 16: About 15 people are killed in the flash flood caused by heavy overnight rain and also in central part of the country the destruction has been triggered. The most affected are the industrial towns of Mandra, Nea Peramos, and Megara, west of the capital Athens.

 

According to the local media, the floods have been described by area mayors as the worst in 20 years. At least 37 people have been taken to the hospital and some are still missing. The Mandra Mayor Ioanna Kriekouki said that everything is lost. The disaster is biblical.

A period of national mourning in the wake of the tragedy has been declared by the Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. Most of the people who were found dead were the elderly people whose bodies were found inside their homes.
