Srinagar, November 16: Security forces have intensified their efforts to curb terrorism and terrorists from Jammu and Kashmir with an aim to bring peace, law and order in the valley. Notably, during the anti-terrorism operation, Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested three terrorists from Kund area of Kulgam district while one was eliminated during the gun battle.

Giving up the whole information on the anti-terrorism operation, Jammu and Kashmir’s IGP Muneer Khan said, “Anti-militancy operation in Kund has been continuing since November 14. Three terrorists arrested alive in this operation while one is killed.” “During the operation, one soldier was martyred,” IGP Muneer Khan added.

The IGP in a press conference further said that security forces including 9 RR, 10 Sikh and 18 Batallion of CRPF arrested three terrorists identified as Shamsul Viqar and Atta Mohd Malik during an ongoing operation in the forest area of Haalan-Kund area of Qazigund, in south Kashmir’s Kulgam. “While one of their associates Bilal Sheikh was also arrested alive from the encounter site,” he noted.

The Kashmir’s top cop also said that one of the injured terrorist named Atta Mohd Malik is under a treatment in the hospital. “Another terrorist who was killed in gun battle was identified as Muzammil Manzoor Dar,” Muneer Khan said.

Speaking on the local militancy, the IGP also said that Pakistan has been running a relentless campaign to radicalize Kashmiri youths to join terrorism. “16 youths have joined militant ranks in last four months in South Kashmir,” Khan said. He further added that security forces are ready to accept the surrender of local militants even during encounters. "We think two more militants are still hiding in the area, so operation is going on," Khan concluded.

However, the arrest comes a day after two terrorists were killed by the security forces after the fierce encounter took place in the Kund area of Kulgam district in southern Kashmir. Importantly, intense effort from security forces continues in Jammu and Kashmir in a bid to curb terrorism. Earlier on November 1 of this year, Jammu and Kashmir police also busted a network of Lashkar-e-Toiba terror outfit in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district by arresting six of its over-ground workers.
