Andhra Pradesh inks pact with Toyota Kirloskar for electric vehicles

Amaravathi, Nov 16: Government of Andhra Pradesh today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Toyota Kirloskar to promote the emerging trend of electric vehicles. On this occasion Information Technology (IT) Minister Nara Lokesh and Toyota Kirloskar MD Akito Tachibana were present.


Informing about the venture, Information Technology Minister Lokesh informed that government is marching ahead towards the goal of clean energy, He further noted that government is working on a full proof ecosystem for the development of Electric Vehicles in the state and also drafted a comprehensive Electric Vehicles Policy.

The Minister stated that Andhra Pradesh government will be consulting with various stakeholders such as EV manufacturers, battery manufacturers, cab aggregators to boost the employment opportunities. Lokesh expressed that proposed vehicles will be delivered between May and December 2018. The project will be launched in Tirupati and Toyota will supply two models of its electric cars for free for experimentation.
