We will fund the start-ups who develop good cybersecurity solutions: Ravi Shankar Prasad

New Delhi, November 16: The First ever Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT) Open Conference in India was inaugurated by the Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad and also it is the first in South Asia was held in New Delhi on November 15, 2017. The Minister made various significant announcements.

 

Japan handed over the host country award from the APCERT to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In). To discuss response mechanisms in the complex and evolving threat landscape for Building Trust in the Digital Economy on the contours and vision 22 digital Asia Pacific economies CERT participated along with participation from USA, Europe, Industry, Academia, Government and Media which totals about over 350 professionals.

 

He announced that the government will offer Ph.D. scholarships in cybersecurity to candidates from Asia Pacific to support Ph.D. scholars in digital technologies. The Candidates who do their Ph.D. in any of the 100 leading universities of India, including IITs, IISc, and other universities will be given scholarships.

 

Addressing the conference Prasad said that the Digital endeavors must lead to digital inclusion. Technology must be affordable, developmental and inclusive. Our government will encourage and fund good Ph.D. research in the field of cybersecurity by students from Asia Pacific countries. We will fund the start-ups who develop good cybersecurity solutions. India digital development story will be a game changer in the digital discourse of the world. There are more than 100 cybersecurity product companies in India and it was proposed that in furtherance of the Public Procurement.

 

To shape the agenda for the next 2 years across the region, India was selected to be part of the steering committee of APCERT along with 6 other countries including Australia, China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan.

In India, cyber security professionals got an opportunity to attend a highly content rich technical conference, interact with the Asia Pacific incident response leaders in cybersecurity and the International community got to see the skills and depth of some of the cybersecurity start-ups from India.

APCERT will work to help create a Safe, Clean and Reliable cyberspace in the Asia Pacific Region through global collaboration.
