Be alert passengers! No need to pay extra charges for changes in misspelled names

New Delhi, November 16: If your name is misspelled in your flight ticket then need not worry because there will be no extra charges levied on changing the spelling of your name.


 

Ministry of civil aviation has taken this decision today. Minister of Civil Aviation Ashok Ganpathy Raju said this by tweeting “For the benefit of all passengers - As per DGCA regulations, Airlines cannot charge any additional amount for correction in the name of the same person, when the person brings this to the notice of the airline after booking the ticket.”

It is applicable for changes in any error in the name of passengers. It is very common in India where name can be misspelled in flights tickets.

 

The aviation ministry sources said that they have received several complaints in the past over the airlines or their agents demanding extra money for making any changes which causes lots of inconvenience to the passengers.To curb this complaints this decision has been taken.
