New Delhi, Nov 17: Rejecting the petition filed by environment activist P Srimannarayan challenging the proposed development plan of the Andhra Pradesh’s new state capital Amaravati, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) today cleared the way for the dream project of Chandrababu Naidu.

The apex body has asked state government to constitute two panels (supervisory and implementation) for the regular monitoring of the project site of Amaravati. According to media reports, NGT took 22 months to verify and investigate documents presented by both sides. Earlier responding to the plea, the green body had directed Andhra Pradesh government not to carry out any operation without environmental clearance to the project.
