MRM deplores Farooq Abdullah’s views on PoK, to observe country-wide protest on 29th

New Delhi, Nov 17: Taking strong exception to the views expressed by former J & K Chief Minister and presently Lok Sabha MP Dr Farooq Abdullah on Pak Occupied Kashmir (PoK), the Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) will observe November 29 as ‘Quit PoK’ day nationwide to create awareness among the citizens and to condemn Farooq Abdulla’s statements who said the PoK belonged to Pakistan and no power on earth could separate them.

In a recently concluded meeting of its Central Committee at New Delhi, the MRM has taken this decision to conduct demonstrations all over the country on this issue. It has directed all its state and district units to hold rallies, protest demonstrations and conduct a signature campaign in their respective areas.

The meeting was attended by all the five national conveners, members of the core group, heads of all the Cells, and Central Committee members from all over the country.

MRM Patron Indresh Kumar said that the ground situation in J & K has changed a lot with the shift of focus in the government policy in matters related to Article 370, 35(A), PoK, separatism and terrorism in J & K.

The zero tolerance attitude of the government about terrorism and separatism has started paying dividends as the number of persons attending the funeral of slain terrorists has declined considerably. On the other hand, there has been considerable increase in those attending the funerals of slain BSF officer or BJP Yuva Morcha leader in the recent times. This change as a ‘visible improvement’ in ground situation in Kashmir due to ‘multi-step treatment procedure’ of New Delhi, Indresh Kumar said.

He said that all the separatist leaders were arrested and they were not released even after appointment of the interlocutor who had been asked to conduct dialogue with the concerned parties in J & K. The people of J & K have not given any response to the ‘bandh call’ of the separatist leaders.

Against this background this statement came from former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah about Pak Occupied Kashmir which, Indresh Kumar said, should be deplored and condemned by all the citizens of the country.

He said that though Pakistan had occupied our territory forcibly in 1947-48, in the J & K Assembly there are 24 seats in the Vidhan Sabha and six in the Council earmarked for the representatives from that region. These seats still remain vacant in the House, he added. Even the Abdullah family that ruled the state did not make any change in the status of these vacant seats.

The MRM, therefore, has demanded that these vacant seats of the representatives of people in PoK should be filled either by conducting elections or by nomination so that their voice could be heard in the J & K Assembly and their problems could be resolved.

Launching a scathing attack on Farooq Abdullah, he said that Farooq Abdullah has betrayed the nation by saying that PoK belonged to Pakistan. The Parliament had in 1984 passed a unanimous resolution stating that whole of J & K is integral part of India and we will ensure that Pakistan vacates every inch of PoK. This is the commitment of the Parliament and Farooq Abdullah is its member. BY giving such statements he is betraying this commitment. This is an anti-national act and he should be divested of his membership immediately.

Today, he is committing treason. People of Kashmir should show wisdom and understand that this is betraying Kashmir, Kashmiriyat and Hindustan. If he doesn’t like Kashmiriyat and he doesn’t respect parliament and assembly, so he should go to Pakistan and it will be good for you to spend rest of his old age there,” said Kumar, who reiterated that British parliament has also passed a resolution stating that partition was a mistake but whole of J&K is part of India.

The MRM will collect signatures of prominent members of the Muslim community from different parts of the country and submit them to the President of India with these demands, he said.

The MRM meeting also deplored the statement of noted film actor Rishi Kapoor who also endorsed the views of Dr Farooq Abdullah on PoK.

Ram Temple at Ayodhya: With regard to the construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya the birthplace of Lord Rama and the various efforts that are being conducted to strike an amicable solution to this vexed issue, Indresh Kumar said that slowly a consensus was building in favor of a grand Ram temple.

“Let there be a temple but there should not be any mosque in the name of Babur at all. If any mosque is to be constructed then it should be outside Ayodhya”, he said.

He said that around 50 meetings were conducted so far with Muslims. There was a national seminar on ‘Ikshvaku Dynasty’ on Sept 16-17, 2017 at Ayodhya in which many Muslim scholars, Hindu pundits and scholars from other religions participated. More than 8000 people had attended that seminar held in the Ram Katha Park.

Explaining the legal position Indresh Kumar said that the title suite is pending in the Supreme Court of India and the hearing is expected to resume from December 5 on a day-to-day basis. Earlier the Allahabad High Court had ruled that the owner of the land was ‘Ram Lala’ the presiding deity of Ayodhya. But the High Court divided the land in three parts and this was challenged in the apex court.

The Muslim parties had given an affidavit to the President stating that they would accept that there was a temple if archaeological evidences proved it after excavation. Now these archaeological evidences procured after excavation amply authenticate the existence of temple at the site. However, they want the order from the court so that they can save their faces.

They also said that the place should not be called as ‘Babri Masjid’ as there is no tradition in Islam to name mosques after any individual. In its place it should be called a ‘disputed structure’.

Eid-e-Milad: The MRM also decided to take active part in programs organized by various Muslim organizations on the occasion of Eid-E-Milad on December 1. The occasion will be used to spread the message of the Prophet on respect for religions, his vision of India, and peace among the communities.
