Security forces successfully eliminated Al-Qaeda’s top commander Mugais Mir in Srinagar

Srinagar, November 18: Security forces on Friday night eliminated a top terrorist commander Mugais Mir who belonged to newly created Kashmir-based Al-Qaeda cell called Ansar Ghazwatul Hind terror outfit after a fierce encounter that broke out in Srinagar’s Zakoora area. 

Notably, this was a massive success for security forces as they eliminated Al-Qaeda’s top commander Mugais Mir who is also the closest aide of Zakir Musa. Meanwhile, the authorities in Srinagar have imposed restrictions following the killing of the terrorist, fearing it may trigger a law and order situations. Eight police station areas will remain under curfew. Security has been stepped up in Srinagar’s old city and Parimpora areas.

Mir and his associates traveling in a car attacked a police party in Zakoora Hazratbal area of Srinagar. While Mir was injured in the gunfight that followed and later succumbed to death. However, a combing operation has been launched to track down the two other terrorists. In the attack, a police sub-inspector, Imran Tak was martyred and another policeman was injured. The injured policeman is being treated in hospital and doctors have said he is out of danger.

On the other side, acting on the specific information, the security forces also busted a terrorist hideout in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district and recovered arms and ammunition. Two Chinese pistols with two magazines and five rounds, a .303 rifle with one magazine and 10 cartridges and one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher with five grenades were recovered in the joint raid launched by the Army and the police

Earlier in a week, two terrorists were killed by the security forces after the fierce encounter took place in the Kund area of Kulgam district in southern Kashmir. The Indian security forces have led a massive war against terrorism and terrorists in the inner parts of Jammu-Kashmir and forward areas. Therefore, Anti-Terrorism operation is continued with such a speed that at least 180 terrorists are eliminated by Indian troops in a time period of only 10 months.
