Zimbabweans unit against Robert Mugabe; innumerable people came down to demand his resignation

Harare, November 19: Though till now the future of Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe is uncertain, it is very clear a large part of common mass don’t want him to retain the position. On Sunday thousands of Zimbabweans came down to the road to protest against the 93-year-old President. Zimbabwe military stepped in on early Wednesday as Mugabe fired his deputy Emmerson Mnangagwa. The Military denied any coup and did not inform any concrete decision on the issue.

“President Mugabe must be recalled as the party President and be allowed to retire and be given his status as an elder statesman. The province urges the Central Committee as the supreme organ of the party to urgently meet and give effect to these resolutions. The party should convene a special Central Committee meeting within 48 hours to realign the party in line with current political developments,” a statement said.

Anti Mugabe rallies were held in the revolutionary suburb of Highfield. Significantly 37 years ago same huge crowd gathered as President Mugabe took the charge of President. Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans’ Association leads those rallies.

The President of the African nation is still under house arrest. A resolution is expected by Sunday as he will meet army chiefs for the second time. A Catholic priest will mediate the talk. The military is also trying hard to legitimize the expulsion as the integration pressure is mounting on the army for constitutional resolution. But however common people are showing their support for the army.
