GES-2017: Women represent 52.5 percent of entrepreneurs, investors, and ecosystem supporters

Hyderabad, November 19: With the theme of Women First, Prosperity for All, the 8th edition of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit-2017 (GES-2017) will be held in Hyderabad from 28th November. For the first time it is being held in South Asia, India and the USA will be co-hosting the conference.

 

Talking about the forthcoming event in New Delhi, NITI Aayog CEO, Amitabh Kant said that the event will emphasis on supporting women entrepreneurs and nurturing economic growth globally. It will focus on four areas- Energy and Infrastructure, Digital Economy and Financial Technology, Health and Life Sciences and Media and Entertainment.


He said that this will be the biggest summit which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Advisor to the US President, Ivanka Trump will lead the US contingent to the event. For India, the summit holds a special place and the government is boosting the spirit of entrepreneurship through various programmes including Start-Up India and Make in India, he added.


At the Summit, Women will represent 52.5 percent of entrepreneurs, investors, and ecosystem supporters. The summit will have involvement from 150 countries and women from 127 countries are partaking. At GES2017 young entrepreneurs who are steering in a new era of innovation, are 31.5 percent of the participants. The American entrepreneurs, investors, and ecosystem supporters come from 38 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The youngest entrepreneur is 13 and the oldest entrepreneur is 84.
