Bandipora, November 19: Another success comes from Indian Army as the force has eliminated 6 Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists on Saturday. The six militants included one top LeT terrorist; the nephew of its Pakistan based operational chief, Zaikur-ur-Rehman Lakhvi. The operation took place at Hajin area of Bandipora district in North Kashmir. Unfortunately, an Indian Air Force (IAF) Garud commando was also killed in the operation.

A joint team of Army, SOG and CRPF launched the combing operation. The operation was launched following some inputs that indicated the presence of some militants at Chandergeer in Hajin. The encounter started after hiding militants started firing. Along with the IAF commander, another soldier got killed.

The IAF Garud commando has later been identified as JP Narula. Though his unit is based in Chandigarh he was in Bandipora for counter-militancy operations. All of the eliminated terrorists were Pakistanis. LeT commanders Abu Zargam and Mehmood Bhai are two among the eliminated terrorists. Mehmood Bhai was divisional commander of the LeT and Zargam operation commander.

This is so far one of the most successful operations of this year. Since the wake of violence by Pakistan-based militants in Jammu and Kashmir, the army is continuing anti-militancy operations. Security forces on Friday night eliminated a top terrorist commander Mugais Mir who belonged to newly created Kashmir-based Al-Qaeda cell called Ansar Ghazwatul Hind terror outfit after a fierce encounter that broke out in Srinagar’s Zakoora area.
