GOOD NEWS! Uttarakhand to implement DBT scheme for Fertilizers; Farmers will be benefited

Dehradun, November 2: To provide maximum facilities to Farmers, the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Scheme for fertilizers has been inaugurated by the Chief Minister of the Uttarakhand Trivandrum Singh Rawat at Kisan Bhawan on Wednesday. POS machine has been distributed to the fertilizer dealers.

 

Talking on the occasion, Rawat said that this is one more step towards the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream Digital India and now Uttarakhand is among the five states where the DBT scheme has been launched.


He further added that the DBT Scheme on fertilizers has been started in Uttarakhand. For the subsidy of fertilizers, the State government will get an amount of Rs.475 crores from the central government. The scheme will benefit the farmers regarding the subsidy on the fertilizers and also the Subsidy intermediaries will be stopped.

 

Addressing the event he said that most of the people of Uttarakhand are still dependent on agriculture. The soil health card of all farmers will be connected to the Aadhar card. He said that through DBT scheme the subsidy on fertilizer will be directly transferred to the farmers' account. For this, Aadhar Card is mandatory.

 

The chief minister said that till 2022, if the Soil health card will be connected to the Aadhar card, then it will be helpful for the efforts regarding doubling the income of the farmers. The State government is providing a loan of Rs.One Lakh to the small and marginal farmers at the interest rate of 2 percent.

To change the procedure of transferring subsidies Direct Benefit Transfer was launched by Government of India on 1 January 2013. This program aims to transfer subsidies directly to the people through their bank accounts.
