Washington, November 2: The 29-year old Uzbek immigrant, Sayfullo Saipov, who killed at least 8 people by running over a truck into people in New York, said that he began planning the attack a year ago.

IS Terrorist told the FBI that he carried out the attack in support of Islamic State and said that he is proud of what he has done. He confessed that he had been inspired by ISIS videos and began plotting an attack about a year ago, deciding to use a truck about two months ago.

Authorities said the driver of the rented Home Depot truck, Saipov, watched ISIS videos on his cellphone and picked Halloween for the attack on a bike lane in lower Manhattan because he knew more people would be out on the streets.

Sayfullo Saipov was charged with providing material support to a terrorist group and committing violence and destruction of motor vehicles. US President Donald Trump, meanwhile, called for end of 'Chain Immigration'.

Within hours of announcing terrorism charges against the Uzbek immigrant accused in the truck rampage that left eight people dead in New York, US justice officials announced that they had found a second Uzbek man they were seeking in relation to the attack. The name of 32 year old second accused is Mukhammadzoir Kadirov.

The federal prosecutors said the accused carried out the attack in response to the Islamic State group's online calls to action.

The suspect arrived in the U.S. from his native Uzbekistan in March 2010, authorities said. Saipov was never the subject of an FBI or NYPD investigation but he was reportedly on the radar of the authorities.

Saipov was in fact interviewed by federal agents in 2015 in connection with a probe of terror suspects who overstayed their tourists visas, ABC News reported.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked to US President Donald Trump yesterday and extended his condolences following the attack. PM Modi strongly condemned terrorism, and offered thoughts and prayers for the victims and their families.
