Delhi HC issues notice to Centre, West Bengal govt on Mukul Roy’s plea seeking probe into phone tapping

New Delhi, November 20: Recently BJP leader Mukul Roy moved to Delhi High Court with the allegation of phone tapping by West Bengal government. Based on that plea Delhi High Court has sought a response from the Centre and West Bengal government.

A notice has been to the Union Telecom Ministry, West Bengal government, telecom service provider Vodafone and others asking them a reply from Justice Vibhu Bakhru. The response has to be filed in a sealed cover on 7th December. If the phone tapping was done, then the reason also has to be mentioned in the reply.

BJP leader Mukul Roy moved to Delhi High Court against West Bengal government with the allegation of phone tapping on 17th November. He filed a case in Delhi High Court alleging that his mobile phones were being tapped for many months now. The plea sought directions to his telecom service providers, Vodafone and MTNL to produce before the court directions.

"Recently Babul Supriyo, minister of state for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, also alleged that mobile phones of selected individuals were being tapped in the state of West Bengal," the plea said. Mukul Roy also said that he cannot talk on the phone and am forced to use Whatsapp call facility to speak to people.
