EC to issue Notification for second phase of Gujarat assembly elections

Gandhinagar, November 20: The Gujarat Assembly Election second phase’s notification which is to be held in 93 constituencies on 14th December will be issued on Monday. On Sunday, Congress released the first list of its 77 candidates for succeeding Gujarat Assembly elections. BJP has previously publicized two lists of 106 candidates.

 

With the meeting held in New Delhi of the Central Election Committee, the party nominated the names for the first phase of polls to be held on the 9th of next month. Senior party leader Shaktisinh Gohil will contest from Mandvi constituency. Arjun Modhwadia has also been given the ticket to contest the Assembly election. Also on Sunday, to discuss the issues regarding the reservation issue for Patidar community in the state Congress and Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leaders held a meeting in Ahmedabad.

While BJP announced two lists of candidates, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will file his nomination from Rajkot on Monday. The last day of filing nominations for the first phase is on Tuesday. In the first phase from the 182 seats, 89 in Saurashtra, Kutch and South Gujarat will go to polls. The result will be announced on December 18.

The official procedure for the polls starts with the Notifications calling upon the constituency to elect Members of a House. As soon as Notifications are issued, Candidates can start filing their nominations in the constituencies from where they wish to contest.
