Shaheed Jyoti Prakash Nirala, a rare example of ‘One Man Army’; Eliminated 5 terrorists in Kashmir

Srinagar, November 20: Jyoti Prakash Nirala, a Garud Commando of Indian Air Force gave a supreme sacrifice on Saturday during a gunfight with a group of terrorists Hajin area of Bandipora district in North Kashmir. But the nation must know about his valour as he eliminated five of six terrorists belonged to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror outfit that included nephew of its Pakistan based operational chief, Zaikur-ur-Rehman Lakhvi.

Garud Commando Jyoti Prakash Nirala was equal to ‘one many army’ as he alone killed five terrorists who were sheltered in a house that was located at Chandergeer in Hajin area of Bandipora district in North Kashmir. Commando Jyoti Prakash Nirala led from the front showcased his bravery and valour at the highest level and killed five terrorists along with the nephew of Zaikur-ur-Rehman Lakhvi.

However, the 31-year old commando gave supreme sacrifice and laid his life in eliminating those anti-national elements. Today, the whole nation is proud of Jyoti Prakash Nirala and stands with family in his absence.

Notably, Indian Security Forces let it be Indian Army, CRPF, BSF, Navy personnel or personnel of Indian Air Force are recognized for their valour across the world. The main agenda and workflow of Indian security forces are to maintain peace and law and order in the country but also to eliminate anti-national elements.

The Indian Army, Indian Air Force and other security agencies paid floral tributes to the IAF Garud commando Jyoti Prakash Nirala who made the supreme sacrifice during counter-terrorist operation at Hajin in Bandipora. Nirala’s mortal remains were airlifted from Srinagar to Chandigarh on Sunday for onward movement to his native place Badiladih village in Rohtas district of Bihar where the last rites took place with full military honours.

Nirala had joined the IAF in 2005. He was survived by his wife Sushma Nand and a three-and-a-half-year-old daughter Jigyasa Kumari. Importantly, the Air Force for the past few months has been embedding Garud commandos with Army formations deployed in Jammu and Kashmir for operational experience and live situational training.

The Garud force was established in 2004 to provide the IAF with a specialized ground force for guarding high-value strategic assets and undertake special operations like airborne assault, special reconnaissance, combat search and rescue, anti-hijacking and hostage rescue.
