Dispur, November 20: Even after finding countless days and nights for a lifetime, a state like Assam will not be available and fertile soil will not be found, said President Ram Nath Kovind in Assam during his northeast tour. While President Ram Nath Kovind is on his 4 day tour to northeast states, arrived in Assam today morning to address the closing ceremony of Namami Barak. 

Addressing the ceremonial function, Kovind said that geographical location of the Barak valley gives it the potential to become a hub for inter-state and international trade. I congratulate the state government and the people for organizing this festival inspired by the purpose of presenting the immense potential of the Barak Valley and the residents of the whole country and the world, he added.

 

Citing the words of Bhupen Hazarika, Prez Kovind said that even after finding countless days and nights for a lifetime, a state like Assam will not be available.

Speaking upon the Act East Policy, Prez Kovind said that through the Act East Policy of the Government of India, Assam, the states of the North-Eastern region are being connected to South-East Asia. With this transformation, there is tremendous potential for the growth of business activities of the entire South and Southeast Asia, along with India's northeast region.

Further the President added that the people of Assam have considerable experience in the areas of agriculture, fisheries, handloom and tea plantation. Fertile land; Development in road, rail and water transport; and in the Barak Valley as a professional and skilled workforce, everything is available to accelerate the development of fast.

Earlier Citing Arunachal as the ‘Jewel’ of the northeastern region, President Ram Nath Kovind received the classic ceremonial welcome from the students of the state dancing to the rhythms of traditional songs. On his 4 day tour to northeast, he arrived for the first time in Arunachal Pradesh as the President of India. Addressing the valedictory function of the completion of 40 years of Vivekananda Kendra, President hailed Arunachal Pradesh saying that if the Northeast is the crown of the country, the state is the “jewel in the crown”.
