New Delhi, November 20: When Senior Congress leaders met at 10 Janpath, Sonia Gandhi's residence to discuss Rahul Gandhi's elevation to the party chief's post, it was a mere ritual to approve the schedule for the party president's election. Twitterati is making fun of Congress party asking if - "when you have already decided to Rahul for #Rahulcoronation why you need to go all these processes or is it just to show there is an internal democracy; do you plan to elect someone else ?"
But leaving aside those questions, the Congress Working Committee on Monday passed a resolution to elevate Rahul Gandhi as party President. The notification for the Presidential poll will be issued on December 1 and the last date for filing the nomination is December 4. Voting will take place on 16th December and counting will be on 19th December. In case there is no candidate apart from Rahul Gandhi, (which is unambiguous) the Congress will announce his candidature on the last date of scrutiny.
The decision took place in the high-level meeting at party president Sonia Gandhi’s residence 10 Janpath, which was attended by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and party’s other top leaders including Mallikarjuna Kharge.
The dynastic politics of Congress party univocally maintained leadership of Sonia Gandhi who assumed the office in 1998 and became the longest-serving president of the party. It was a constant failure of Rahul Gandhi to attain his position on national level o emerge as a better statesman. Congress party bigwigs recent took some efforts and anxious moves to create a unilateral image of Gandhi but seems that it has failed to create a sensation within the Congress party itself.

His performance in Gujarat is outstanding," the former Union minister said.
Still the BJP has not commented on Rahul elevation, but the party workers have sharing jubiliant posts saying that Rahul becoming the Congress president is actually a boon for the BJP to grow and cmplete its aim of Congress Mukta Bharat. On reports that Gandhi would soon be made the president of his party, Union minister Jitendra Singh said he found it strange that "each electoral defeat (for Congress) is directly proportional to the elevation of Gandhi". "He lost the 2014 Lok Sabha election and was elevated from general secretary to the post of vice president. Now, they are waiting him to lose Gujarat, and he will be elevated to the post of president," Jitendra Singh said.
