Launching a frontal attack on Congress party, the Chief Minister stated that leaders of the opposition party have outsourced the entire election as they don’t have any strong leader who can challenge BJP. He further opined that Congress is all set for yet another humiliating defeat in the upcoming Gujarat election. “Our government has given peace and communal harmony in the State,” Rupani mentioned.
Rupani who hails from Rajkot, a traditional BJP stronghold will be contesting his second election from the same seat. A former Rajkot Mayor, Rupani had won the seat in October 2014 after the elevation of seven-time MLA former Gujarat Speaker Vajubhai Vala for the job of Karnataka Governor. In 2014, the former state BJP Chief defeated Congress candidate Jayanti Kalaria with the margin of 23,000 votes.
Earlier in the day Rupani called on former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Keshubhai Patel and sought his blessings and support for the battle of the Gujarat. The Chief Minister took to Twitter and thanked Prime Minister Modi for his support. The potential Chief Ministerial face, Vijay Rupani thanked all BJP members for their valuable support.
