Ahmadabad, November 22: Leaving aside the development of Gujarat, the long-term demand of Patidars for getting reservation has been created as a supreme agenda in Gujarat Assembly election. While now the rift within the Patidar community and their failed prince Hardik Patel started emerging on the forefront, Hardik seems to take measures for damage control prior to the election. Hardik supported Paatidars are now backing Congress openly as Congress has agreed to give Patidars reservation if it comes to power. Hardik Patel‘s announcement comes at a time when within the Patidars community, a feud has started as well as with Congress, the community is getting involved in conflicts.

Though it was highly predicted that Congress and Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) may join their hands in upcoming Gujarat election but Hardik Patel said they are not extending open support to congress too. Rather he said since Congress is thinking about Patidars’ rights, then people will decide who to vote or not.

He claimed Congress agreed to give Patidars reservations under section 31 and provisions of section 46.“We accept formula given by Congress party to give reservation at par with OBC to non-reserved categories,” Patel said.

“We are not openly extending support to Congress, but we will fight BJP. So directly or indirectly, there will be support to Congress,” Hardik Patel said in the press conference.“Congress people are not our cousins, but when they speak about our rights we have to listen to it. And the formula they have offered is plausible,” he added.

PASS tried to get 10 tickets for upcoming election but Congress, however, did not agree to the demand. However, Hardik Patel denied it and said "We never asked for tickets from the Congress. The BJP has created this baseless story.”
