Myanmar-Bangladesh talk on Rohingya issue starts with the high hope of reaching an agreement

Nya Pyi Taw, November 22: With a hope to see a solution to Rohingya problem soon, Bangladesh and Myanmar have begun their two-day talk to reach an agreement. Previously Myanmar’s de-facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi said she is hopeful of the deal with Bangladesh. If the agreement is reached then it will enable both the countries to start the repatriation process of Rohingyas from Bangladesh.

"Bangladesh and Myanmar are in the process of negotiation for a bilateral agreement for repatriation of displaced people and expect to form a Joint Working Group to facilitate the repatriation," said a Bangladeshi ministry statement earlier. It has been said that both countries have almost reached an understanding on this issue but there are few points still need to be agreed.

Meanwhile, US legislators have called for an independent investigation of the violence in northern Rakhine State. Hopefully, Suu Kyi said that at present she has not received any reports of violence in Rakhine. “We can’t rule out that it can’t happen again. It is the responsibility of the government to control not to let it happen,” she said.
