Polavaram is on top priority; Naidu to central panel

Vijayawada, Nov 23: In order to fast track the pending work of Polavaram project, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has urged the central government to extend its support for the most anticipated irrigation venture. Responding to the observations of Rehabilitation and Resettlement Committee Naidu assured that state government will take the final call on issues like land acquisition, compensation, and rehabilitation. Along with this, the state government will present its proposal for the Godavari-Penna-Kaveri linking project.

 

The Rehabilitation and Resettlement Committee after observing the progress at Polavaram site expressed satisfaction over the housing policy measures adopted by Andhra Pradesh government. The panel also appreciated the provisions for rehabilitation and the compensation for migrant villagers.
 

Briefing about the technical glitches Naidu sought center’s intervention to avoid the unnecessary delay. He cautioned that some people are deliberately stalling the project. Sharing his personal experience, Chandrababu informed that he was personally monitoring the day to day affair of the mega irrigation platform. The Chief Minister reiterated that Completion of Polavaram project within stipulated time is the first and foremost priority of the state government.
