Big relief for Sanjay Lila Bhansali; Delhi High Court rejects plea against ‘Padmavati’

New Delhi, Nov 24: Reiterating the stand of the apex court, Delhi High Court today rejected the plea challenging the against the release of Padmavati, a period drama helmed by Sanjay Lila Bhansali. As reported by The Indian Express, the high court panel headed by Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar slammed petitioner for encouraging hooliganism. Commenting on the hubbub situation due to ongoing protest against the Deepika Padukone starrer celluloid, the High court bench also scraped the demand of a committee for the content verification of Padmavati movie.

Taking a firm stand, on public interest litigation filed by the Akhand Rashtrawadi Party, the High court expressed deep concern over the wrong precedent being followed by the cultural organizations. Venting its anger over the remark made against the most anticipated film Padmavati, the high court termed it as “hopeless” and “misconceived” way of protest. The legal bench also dared agitators for creating rucks even before the grand release of the film.

Earlier, On November 19 makers of Padmavati voluntarily deferred the scheduled outing of flick directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The Supreme Court had already quashed the petition demanding a complete ban on the release of Padmavati.
