Search operation ends for three sailors in Philippine Sea air crash

Philippines Sea, November 24: The search for three sailors which were missing since the Aircraft crashed in the Philippines Sea south of Japan on Wednesday said the US Navy on Friday. The Aircraft was on its way to USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier. The Sailors names are being pending completion of next of kin notifications.

 

Expressing grief Commander of Task Force 70 said that our thoughts and prayers are with our lost shipmates and their families. As difficult as this is, we are thankful for the rapid and effective response that led to the rescue of eight of our shipmates and I appreciate the professionalism and dedication shown by all who participated in the search efforts.

Eight US Navy and Japan Maritime Defense Force ships, three helicopter squadrons and maritime patrol aircraft covered nearly 1,000 square nautical miles in the search operation during the course of two days.

The investigation for the cause of crash is in progress. Eight other people were rescued in sometime after the aircraft crashed. The plane was on a routine transport flight, carrying passengers and cargo from Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni in southern Japan to the USS Ronald Reagan.
