Historic poll in Nepal begins paving the way for its transition to federal state

Kathmandu, November 26: Right to Vote for every citizen of a country- one of the basic condition of a good ruled Democracy. Walking towards a peaceful country, Nepal is hosting its first poll since a civil war ended and the monarchy was abolished. On Sunday, the historic election of Nepal began.

The voting is being held for 275-member parliament and provincial assemblies. There are more than three million voters expected to cast their ballot among 15 million eligible voters. Voting started from 7.00 am and will finish by 5.00 pm. After monarchy and civil war, this election is going to be the first step in Nepal’s transition to Federal state.

As per reports, elaborate security arrangements have been made for free, fair and peaceful elections. A district sharing border with India and China are on more security and the respective borders have been sealed. European Union, SAARC, and other international organizations are monitoring the process.

"There are possibilities of scuffles between youth cadres of two political parties, 'democratic alliance' and left alliance. So far, it has been peaceful. We have deployed security forces to abort such situations," the chief district officer of Manang said.

This is the first phase of two-rounded elections. Next one is scheduled December 7. In first phase, 32 districts are voting while in 2nbd phase voters from 45 districts will vote.
