Zimbabwe declares former President Mugabe’s birthday national holiday

Harare, November 27: Despite all recent corruptions, economic scams and finally resignation of Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe pays tribute to their former President. Former President’s birthday has been declared as Robert Gabriel Mugabe National Youth Day and a public holiday.

Following a public demand of resignation, military intervention the 37 year ruler of Zimbabwe resigned recently. But Mugabe once was a face of Zimbabwe who led the movement to take country out of colonial rule. Then he was very much hailed across the world. The current President Emmerson Mnangagwa was also once very close to Mugabe.

Previously the day 21st February used to be recognized as the 21st February Movement by the party in celebration of the principles and ideals of the former president. In this year’s August the country’s government adopted the decision to commemorate the principles of former president. The ruling party Zanu-PF also backed the decision STRONGLY.

When Mnangagwa came to the charge he did not his admiration for Mugabe. “To me, personally, he remains a father, mentor, comrade-in-arms, and my leader. We thus say thank you to him and trust that our history will grant him his proper place, and accord him his deserved stature as one of the leader and founder of our nation,” New President Emmerson Mnangagwa said.
