PM Modi reiterates need for simultaneous Union and State Governments election

New Delhi, November 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reiterated the need for simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and state Assemblies. He said, the balance between the judiciary, legislature, and executive has been the backbone of the Constitution.

The Prime Minister said the country has had a good experience of conducting simultaneous elections. He also called for maintaining a balance in all constitutional bodies to fully realise the dream of the freedom fighters.

PM Modi further stressed on the need for the judiciary, legislature, and executive to strengthen each other and work together for a new India. He also referred to the Dr B R Ambedkar quotes who had said that Constitution is workable, flexible and strong enough to hold the country together.

On the pendency of a large number of cases in courts, he suggested that evening courts can be started to tackle the issue as is already being done in some states.

The Prime Minister has called for maintaining a balance in all constitutional bodies to fully realize the dream of freedom fighters.

PM Modi stressed on the need for these three pillars of the Indian democracy to strengthen each other and work together for a new India.

The Constitution Day was adopted which came into force on January 26, 1950 marking the beginning of a new era in the history of India. From 2015, the Government is observing 26th November as Constitution Day.
