Addressing ‘We Can Do It!’ session, Ivanka Trump says we need to get more men in women-related work fields and women in work fields

Hyderabad, November 29: ‘Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017’ kicked off with a great enthusiasm addressed by the advisor to the President Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the whole nation. With the theme of “Women first, prosperity for all”, GES 2017 aims to empower women on global level. 

Today morning, Ivanka Trump addressed the discussion on “We Can Do It!” Addressing the discussion she said that “Women make up half of the world’s population. We need to think of these issues not as women’s issues but human issues. Excited about the work we are doing internationally to create opportunity for the entrepreneurs. Technology offers tremendous opportunity to women and women entrepreneurs, Ivanka added.

 

“We need to get more men in women-related work fields and more women in work fields such as STEM,” said Ivanka Trump.

Having equal gender representation is a financial positive to businesses today besides being a social responsibility. 90 cents earned by a woman out of a dollar goes back into their family income, Ivanka highlighted further. Ivanka Trump also brought up the issue of building and adopting polices for the modern working family. “We need policy that supports the modern working family,” she said.

 

Stressing on the need to create an environment which empowers women, Chanda Kochhar said, “We don’t have special policies for women. But we focus on creating a work environment for women, so they feel confident that it’s on the basis of their merit they raise.” She further talked about the factors that ensure and encourage female participation in a workplace and said, “It’s the desire, support and ecosystem of the organisation where women work that will help them break the glass ceiling. Recognition of work keeps us going.”

Innovations in Workforce Development and Skills Training’, which is being moderated by Minister for IT E&C KT Rama Rao and also attended by ICICI Bank, Managing Director and CEO, Chanda Kochhar, Cherie Blaire, and Karen Quintos.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ivanka Trump inaugurated the the 8th edition of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017. Focusing on the theme ‘Women First, Prosperity For All’, the session on Wednesday aimed to boost female participation in the workforce through increased access to skills, training, education, and career counseling.
