JK police nabs three close associates of terrorists belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit

Srinagar, November 29: Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday busted a terror module and arrested three associates of the terrorists belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit from the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, security forces have intensified their efforts to curb terrorism and terrorists from Jammu and Kashmir with an aim to bring peace, law and order in the valley.

 

Jammu and Kashmir police arrested three associates of the terrorists belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit from the Kulgam district. The three associates are identified as Mudasir Ahmed Baht of Awantipura, Iqbal Lone of Shivpura Srinagar and Mohammad Amin Bhat of Qamar Kapran, Verinag.


Earlier, on November 17 of this year, a college student and footballer Majid Arshid, who had joined the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), surrendered before security forces. He was with the LeT terror outfit for one week. Arshid had surrendered by walked into a security camp in south Kashmir with his arms and ammunition.

Majid Arshid’s surrender followed after appeals were made by his parents and Jammu and Kashmir Police. Days after Arshid surrendered to the security forces, a youth from Chimmar village in Kulgam district, Naseer Ahmad returned to the mainstream. Ahmad had joined militancy in September this year.

Importantly, with new police policy of not registering any case against those who return to the mainstream, reportedly many new recruits in various terror outfits were keen to surrender but, however, they are not doing so because of the fear of being killed by terrorist leaders.

BACKGROUND:

The Indian security forces have led a massive war against terrorism and terrorists in the inner parts of Jammu-Kashmir and forward areas. Therefore, Anti-Terrorism operation is continued with such a speed that at least 195 terrorists are eliminated by Indian troops in a time period of only 11 months.

The slain terrorists included over a dozen top commanders including Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Abu Khalid, Abu Musaib, the nephew of Mumbai terror attack mastermind and Lashkar-e-Taiba leader, Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi, Lashkar-Toiba Kashmir chief Abu Dujana, Hizbul Mujahideen commander Sabzar Ahmad Bhat, Amarnath attack mastermind and Lashkar-e-Toiba Kashmir chief Abu Ismail and others. There are over 200 terrorists active in Kashmir.
