New Delhi, November 3: Finally proving the long-time buzz true, ex-TMC leader Mukul Roy has joined BJP. On Friday afternoon, he reached BJP headquarters in New Delhi. BJP union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad announced that Mukul Roy is joining BJP and added that his experience will benefit BJP surely. In September the TMC leader who was associated with the party for a long time, resigned the party over the conflict in principle.

After joining BJP in a press conference the leader said, residents of Bengal are tired of mismanagement of Mamata government. The state now wants an alternative power to rule them. In upcoming elections of 2019 and 2022, BJP will come as that long-wanted alternative face, he expects. He also mentioned TMC already fought together with BJP in 1997 and later also, so without BJP’s help TMC could not expand itself.

Mukul Roy has been in parliament for 12 years. The experienced politician was with TMC through thick and thin from the establishment of TMC to out ruling Left in historic 2011 election. Hence with the joining of Mukul Roy, BJP expects a good expansion of its footprint in Bengal. During the joining ceremony, Kailash Vijay Bargiya and veteran journalist from Bengal Swapan Dasgupta were present.

Later the leader met BJP chief Amit Shah where other important leaders including Railway Minister Piyush Goyal were also present.
